What is an RSS Feed?
RSS is a convenient way to receive updates from websites on available content such as news, webcasts or podcasts. Rather than visiting a website over and over for the latest updates, you can use a reader to keep track of updates for you. An RSS feed contains a title and summary information, as well as links to access the full content, such as a webcast or podcast. If you click an RSS link, you will likely see XML (or eXtensible Markup Language) code in your browser. This is to be expected, since you typically do not view RSS content through a browser. You view feeds through an RSS reader (also called an RSS aggregator). There are a number of RSS readers available on the Internet. Some are Web-based while others require you to install a software program.

What is podcasting?
Podcasting makes an audio or video file available online for downloading via an automatic "feed" to podcasting software installed on your computer. You can then listen to/view the podcast whenever you want either on your computer, or on-the-go by synching up to a portable media player, such as an Apple iPod.
