Vyatta vs. Cisco 7204 BGP Performance Evaluation

Over the past decade the Internet has grown rapidly resulting in a significant increase in the amount of traffic and the size of the Internet routing table managed by service provider and enterprise edge routers. Existing proprietary edge routers are quickly running out of the processing power and memory capacity required to keep up with these growing demands. This paper is a performance test of Vyatta’s open networking vs. Cisco 7200 series routers that demonstrates superior performance for a fraction of the price.
