John Kellerman

John Kellerman has been a part of Eclipse since its origins in 1998, participating in its growth from a pioneering platform for pulling together disparate IBM software tooling to the full-blown, independent community of open source projects that it is today. In Part 1 of this two-part interview, he talks about the origins of Eclipse and discusses why Eclipse and open source in general are such a practical move for IBM. He also shares examples of companies innovating with Eclipse, including NASA's use with the Mars Spirit and Discovery rovers.
